Different religions and cultures with the Muslims, Jews and Christians living together peacefully as well as many different philosophers, artists and scientists living in the city at different times.

Cordoba’s background culturally provides for one of Europe’s most interesting destinations. There are a number of monuments and there is the world famous Moorish mosque, Mezquita and there are plenty of museums to visit.

Cordoba in the 11th century was the western world’s capital and it has been estimated that there were over 500,000 inhabitants in Cordoba in the 10th century that made it Europe’s and the world’s largest city. At times the city has measured the highest temperatures in all of Europe exceeding 40°C in the summer.

Rain comes from storms from the west that are more common between December and February. There are very good roads to the city but parking can at times be difficult like in any big city. The problem is made even worse by the very nature it is an old city.

The AVE high speed train has connections in Seville and Madrid making it a day trip excursion as well if you are in one of those areas. The train is only about an hour and a half each way from Madrid. Currently Cordova is the 10th largest city in Spain.

The town is well known for bullfighting, flamenco and is one of southern Spain’s most attractive destinations. It does not only have palaces, monuments, churches and museums but there are little squares all around the city, cafes and plenty of restaurants to get lost in and you will not be disappointed.

Flamenco night is a great way for tourists to feel like a part of the city. For art lovers there are galleries buildings and monuments to take away your breath. You may even want to rent a private villa and enjoy a different style of hospitality some even offer private food services.
