There are several ancient sites that can be found in Benalmadena. Among the most notable is the site of the Phoenician Era. The site of the Plazade España in Arroyo de la Miel is attributed to the origin of the nucleus Arroyo de la Miel in the eighteenth century, where Felix Solesio constructed a set of buildings to house workers of the factory. From this period is preserved the configuration of the square and a stone arch that crowns the entrance. After a thorough reform, we can enjoy one of the former factory buildings known as La Tribuna and the sculpture in honour of Felix Solesio.
La Niña de Benalmadena is a bronze sculpture created by Jaime Pimentel. It is one of the icons of the city and is located in the centre of a fountain in the Plaza deEspana Benalmadena Pueblo. It represents a girl with her hair gathered who is collecting and offering water in a shell, and the model that was used was a niece of Almayate Manolo “El Petaca” and she also served as a model for the same sculptor, Cenachero, when he created his statue of Malaga. The Girl with a statuette was the award that was given to the winner in the Festival de Cine de Author Benalmadena, which the authorities held at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de la Costa delSol
In the vicinity of the Dove-cot is the Municipal Auditorium, Public Library, the exhibition and the Dolphinarium and Pinguinario Selwo Marina. It has the Spanish flag on the mast high in the region, next to the plaque in honour of the XXX Anniversary of the Spanish Constitution.
La Paloma Park is located on Avenida de Federico García Lorca and has an area of 200,000 square metres of lakes, lawns and pine trees. It has a garden of cacti and there are several kiosks, bars and cafes. In this park you can see various species of wildlife such as ducks, swans, peacocks, chickens and rabbits.
There are three Catholic churches: Santo Domingo de Guzman (in Benalmadena Pueblo), Immaculate Conception (in Arroyo de la Miel) and Our Lady of Mount Caramel (in Benalmadena Costa) and a Protestant church.
The Stupa of Enlightenment is the largest in the Western world. This Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment opened in 2003, and is a project of the great Buddhist teacher Lopon Rinpoche Tsechu. The stupa represents peace, prosperity and harmony, and is also a place of meditation.
It’s golden dome and its privileged location in the mountains makes visible from the coast of the municipality. Close to the fairground and the Parque de La Paloma is a Hindu temple, easily distinguishable by its spectacular architecture. There is a small local mosque as authorized for use by members of the Islamic community and a Muslim cemetery.
