Spain is one of the most renowned tourist places of the world. The name Barcelona has been derived from the ancient Iberian and during the Middle Ages; Barcelona was known as Barcalona, Barchenona, Barchinona, Barchelona As Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, it plays a major role in the state as well as national politics. Barcelona also has the Supreme Court of the state of Catalonia.
Barcelona has got a spectacular and glorious history. Its foundation can be subjected to two legends. The first one is the foundation of the city of Hercules which happened 400 years before the rise of Rome and it is also said that its rebuilding was done by the father of Hannibal, Hamilcar Barca, who did the naming of the city after its family name. The second is directly attributed and connected to Hamilcar Barca.
With regard to the climate of Barcelona, it has a typical Mediterranean climate which can be clearly identified from the mild and humid winters, and the warm and dry summers. The months of January and February are supposedly the coldest months, having an average temperature of 10 degree Celsius. Snowfalls are always cherished as special events in Barcelona as it is quite a rare feature out there. At the same time, July and August are known to be the hottest of months in Barcelona.
The city of Barcelona is also very famous for football, as the team of Barcelona is one of the most dominant teams of the Spanish La Liga (The official football league of Spain). FC Barcelona has won the UEFA Champions League twice and has held the league title for quite a number of times. The home stadium of Barcelona is Camp Nou, as regarding other sports; Barcelona hosted the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Barcelona has also got many parks for public entertainment and various other reasons; it has around 68 municipal parks which can be further segregated into 12 historic parks, 45 urban parks, 5 botanical parks and 6 forest parks. There are a million of reasons to come to this beautiful place, the above mentioned are just a few.
