Italy, France, and Spain are joining up to attract tourists from Brazil, India, and China. Using the promotional logo, “European Passion” they plan to combine marketing efforts in an attempt to sell tourists in Brazil, India, and China on visiting the Mediterranean Arc.
Representatives from each of the European nations signed an accord in Brussels to get things underway.
The goal will be to increase positioning in the markets of Brazil, India, and China by collective use of marketing and public relations.
Italy, France, and Spain will host tour operators and journalists from Brazil, India, and China later this year. The idea is to interest them in the sights of the three Mediterranean countries and have them, in turn, interest tourists. The promotional visits are a first step in the “European Passion” marketing strategy.
Interestingly enough, Italy, France, and Spain were among the most visited European countries last year. France had around 74 million guests, while Spain reported entertaining about 52 million foreigners, and Italy was visited by 43 million tourists. Holiday rentals in Italy, France, and Spain are very popular with visiting families.
It is certainly no coincidence that Brazil, India, and China number three of the four top emerging markets. Russia rounds off the list. These four countries accounted for 50 per cent of global growth during the period of 2000 to 2008. The IMF (International Monetary Fund) speculates that Brazil, India, China, and Russia will be responsible for much of the gross domestic growth around the world by 2014.
